Common Car Modifications that are Useless

Do you ever see a pretty cool car that is completely ruined by a modification? Living in the Twin Cities, I see a lot of these. Sometimes drivers purchase a cool car like an Acura Integra only to ruin its aesthetic appeal by installing lame car body kits. Another mod that really annoys me is the raising or lowering of cars. Why would you want to jump into a car several feet up? Not only that, but it just looks plain tacky. I call it begging for attention. Here are three common body modifications that more often than not destroy the overall coolness of a vehicle.

1. Body kits- I will admit sometimes they do the car some good but I keep seeing cars have a body kit that is a completely different color of the rest of the car. Can you say ugly!?

2. Racing tails- I think racing cars are generally cool looking, for the most part. Every now and then I see a Honda Civic completely ruined by the installation of a racing tail. They are just so gaudy.

3. Exhausts- It’s cool to have a monstrous roar to your hot ride, but let’s face it, some drivers try way too hard. A Ford Mustang already has a beastly roar, why amp it up with a Mustang Exhaust that sounds artificial and unnecessary. If you want a roar that everybody will admire, get a cool car. An exhaust installation on a stupid little Cavalier is just plain stupid. Nobody will think it sounds good. In fact, they’ll probably roll their eyes and laugh.

So there you have it. I hate cars that are modified when they don’t have to be. Sometimes I see a Dodge Charger that is lifted off the ground by a good 2 feet or so. There is also plenty of cars around here that have too many stickers, are custom painted by a dork, or have stupid things stuck to them like wine corks or McDonalds toys. This kind of stuff just makes the driver look ridiculous. In my opinion, they are better off driving a straight up stock car.
